Three $1 million Powerball tickets sold in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania has three new millionaires.

Three $1 million Powerball tickets matching all five white balls but not the Powerball were sold in the state, according to published reports.

One of those tickets was sold in Lancaster county, while the other two were sold in Chester and Lehigh counties, CBS 21 reported, which didn’t have any further information on the locations.

Two more $1 million tickets were sold in New Jersey, one of which was purchased with the power play option, which increases its winning value to $2 million, Philly.com reported. Pennsylvania and New Jersey reported dozens of players winning $50,000 or $100,000.

Before Wednesday, 19 consecutive drawings offered no jackpot winners, WNEP added. With the increased interest came increased ticket sales, ballooning the jackpot to approximately $1.5 billion from $400 million two weeks ago.

The Powerball prize dwarfed the previous record-holder as the largest jackpot ever, a $656 million Mega Millions prize in March 2012, Philly.com stated.
