Three Killed in Violent Mill Creek Grocery Store Robbery

Police are investigating a violent robbery that killed three at a Mill Creek grocery store last night.

Armed assailants entered Lorena’s Grocery on 50th Street near Parrish shortly before 8 p.m. and shot the owner, his wife and her sister.

Porfirio Nunez, 49, and Juanna Nunez, 44, of the 500 block of Beacher Avenue in Cheltenham, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, as did Lina Sanchez, 48, of the 5000 block of Parrish Street.

All three were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and died shortly after the incident.

A source close to the investigation said that police are looking for at least two males and that money was taken from the store. There is no indication that the victims resisted in any way and investigators are not yet sure why they were executed.

Police have not yet made any arrests, but investigators are reviewing surveillance video and canvassing for more footage.
