Three killed Sunday in shootings

Three people were killed Sunday in Philadelphia, including a man who was found dead inside a second-floor bedroom of a house in West Philly.

Officers were called to Market and Ruby streets at 3:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting and a passerby told them his friend had been shot inside a nearby building, authorities said.

Police found 42-year-old Cornelius Fuller partially dressed on the floor of the bedroom suffering from gunshot wounds to his abdomen, chest and face. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made.

Two hours earlier, in broad daylight, Raisheem Rochwell, 23, of East Mount Airy, was fatally shot on the 800 block of N. 39th Street in Mantua. He died at the scene, and homicide detectives continue to investigate the shooting.

A 23-year-old man is being held following a fatal shooting that occurred just before 7 p.m. Sunday at 23rd and Berks streets in North Philly, according to police.

Robert Wood, 21, of Fern Rock, was shot once in the back and once in the chest, and officers rushed him to Temple University Hospital, where he died.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old called police to say that he had been shot in the arm nearby on the 1800 block of N. 22nd Street. When investigators arrived at the hospital, several people gathered there told them he had been one of the people involved in Wood’s killing.

Authorities have yet to identify the suspect.

Since the start of 2020, 174 people have been murdered in Philadelphia, and 712 have been shot, a nearly 30 percent increase over this time last year, according to police statistics.

Also on Sunday, a 20-year-old man showed up to Albert Einstein Medical Center just after 9 p.m. after he had been shot in the right thigh at Morris and Coulter streets in Germantown, police said.

In Feltonville, a 23-year-old man was shot in the right arm at 6 p.m. on the 4700 block of B Street, according to authorities.

Both men were listed in stable condition, and no arrests have been made in either case.

Then, on Monday, two men were shot multiple times when shots rang out at around 11:30 a.m. on the 6800 block of N. 20th Street in West Oak Lane.

Authorities said a 44-year-old man was shot in the chest, neck and arm and taken to Einstein Hospital, where he is in critical condition. The second victim, a 43-year-old man, was shot six times in his legs. He is in stable condition.

Detectives continue to search for the shooter.

A 34-year-old man was stabbed in the left arm and shoulder at 9:15 a.m. Monday at 13th Street and Lehigh Avenue in North Philly, police said. He was taken to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.

In addition, two men were hospitalized after a stabbing just after 10 a.m. Monday on the 2100 block of S. College Avenue in Fairmount, authorities said.

A 35-year-old man suffered a wound to the back of his head, and a 22-year-old man was stabbed in his chest and left hand, according to police. Officers took them to Temple Hospital, where they are listed in stable condition.

There have been no arrests in either stabbing.
