Times columnist nabs hotel intruder

A would-be thief provided a bit of column fodder for New York Times writer Nicholas Kristof, who encountered the man in his hotel room.

Kristof wrote about the incident Saturday on the Time’s website.

Earlier that day, Kristof discovered an intruder in his room at the Franklin Hotel. The man attempted to flee, but the two-time Pulitzer Prize winner gave chase and managed to catch him and hold him until police arrived.

Kristof said he fought with the man, whom he described as a “wimpish thief.”

Police took the 58-year-old suspect into custody, according to news reports.
