Toddler in critical condition after fall into Schuylkill River

A child remains hospitalized Monday after falling into the Schuylkill River over the weekend.

According to police on Saturday, at about 11:58 a.m., a three-year-old child fell off the edge of a dock into the Schuylkill River near St. Joseph’s University’s Boat House, along the 2200 block of Kelly Drive.

After the child fell in, police said, the child’s father jumped in and attempted to find the toddler, but was unable to do so.

According to several reports, a police marine unit was ably to recover the child about forty minutes later.

Law enforcement officials said that the child was taken to the intensive care unit at CHOP where it was last listed as being in critical condition.
