Travel + Leisure: PHL one of nation’s worst airports

After praising us in past months for our culture and parks system, Travel + Leisure magazine rated Philadelphia International Airport the third-worst among the nation’s 22 largest airports, saying it is “hobbled by outdated infrastructure, overcrowding, chronic delays, and demoralized staff.”

Readers rated PHL the 20th worst out of 22 airports in the areas of staff, design and cleanliness (or lack thereof). Only its efficiency was ranked worse, clocking in at 21 for flight delays.

Readers were asked to rate America’s major airports in seven categories: flight delays, design, amenities, food and drink, check-in and security, service and transportation and location. New York’s “dilapidated” La Guardia Airport was ranked the worst and LAX in Los Angeles came in second.
