Two children injured after mother crashes into police cruiser

Two children were reportedly hospitalized Wednesday night after their mother crashed into an unmarked police cruiser.

The unidentified 28-year-old woman reportedly did not have the right of way when she crashed into a police captain on his way to a homicide investigation around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Georges Hill Drive and Belmont Avenue in Fairmont,NBC Phillyreported.

“Police also said her 9-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son were inside the Lumina and the crash caused the girl to go head first into the windshield,” NBC Philly reported.

Both children, who police said were not in car seats and suspect may have not been wearing seatbelts, were rushed to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for their injuries.

“Police said initial findings are the woman may have been distracted by the kids and ran a red light, striking the cruiser,” ABC Philly reported.

Both the woman and the captain were uninjured, and no charges have been reported.
