Dozens of shots rang out Wednesday night at a basketball court in Spring Garden, leaving two men dead and two others injured.
Police were called to Roberto Clemente Park, on the 1800 block of Wallace Street, just after 8 p.m. More than 50 shots had reportedly been fired into a crowd of people.
Khalid Henderson, 21, who lived two blocks away, was shot multiple times in the torso, and medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Officers rushed 18-year-old Jayden Lucas to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower back. Lucas, of Oxford Circle, died just after 10 p.m., authorities said.
A 19-year-old man was shot in the torso and is in critical condition, police said. The fourth victim, also a 19-year-old man, was hit in both hips. He is being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
No arrests have been made, and there was no word on what sparked the shooting.
Six other people were injured by gunfire Wednesday night and early Thursday in Philadelphia.
Just after 2 p.m. Thursday, a 28-year-old man was shot five times in the buttocks and once in the left thigh on the 700 block of E. Clearfield Street in Kensington, authorities said. He is listed in critical condition at Temple University Hospital.
Someone called 911 just after 1:15 a.m. Thursday to report a shooting victim near the corner of I and Tioga streets.
A 41-year-old man who had a gunshot wound above his right ankle told investigators that the shooting occurred on the 3000 block of Ruth Street in Kensington. He was transported to Temple Hospital, where he was in stable condition.
Authorities described the suspects as an approximately 40-year-old Hispanic man who is 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build and a 6-foot Hispanic man around 20 years old with a medium build.
A 25-year-old man showed up to Temple Hospital at around 10 p.m. with a gunshot wound to his foot, authorities said. He told detectives that he was shot on the 1300 block of W. Cumberland Street in North Philadelphia. His injuries are not life-threatening, police said.
In Olney, a 30-year-old man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being shot multiple times in the face and lower body just before 10 p.m. on the 4900 block of N. 4th Street, authorities said. Police reported no arrests.
Officers rushed a 35-year-old man to the hospital after he was shot four times at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday on the 1300 block of S. 57th Street in Kingsessing.
He had gunshot wounds to his abdomen, lower back, left hand and right arm, authorities said. He is in stable condition, according to police.
A 29-year-old man was injured in Frankford after someone opened fire with a BB gun at around 3:45 a.m. Thursday on the 4100 block of Torresdale Avenue, police said. He was transported to Nazareth Hospital in stable condition.
Detectives release surveillance video of murder suspects
Investigators on Thursday released two surveillance videos in an attempt to solve two separate murders that occurred this summer on the 5000 block of Merion Avenue in the Parkside section of West Philadelphia.
A 31-year-old man was shot 10 times just after 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, outside what authorities believe is an after-hours club.
Police described the gunman as a Black man with facial hair who was wearing a green-and-white patterned shirt and jeans on the night of the killing. His accomplice is a Black man with a chin strap beard who was wearing a blue-and-white flower patterned shirt, light-colored ripped jeans and a bucket hat.
On July 21, police found the body of a woman in the trunk of a silver Dodge Charger near an automotive store on the block.
Detectives now say the woman was killed Saturday, July 18, at 4 a.m. on the 5000 block of Merion by a tall, very heavy Black man who was driving a dark-colored Ford Fusion with a Pennsylvania license plate where the last two digits appear to be 14.
