Two killed in Philly shootings

Detectives are investigating a pair of fatal shootings that occurred separately Sunday night and Monday afternoon.

Police said someone opened fire on a 27-year-old man in broad daylight just before 4 p.m. on the 3100 block of G Street in Kensington. He was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his head and died minutes later.

A woman was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound Sunday night inside an apartment in Frankford, authorities said.

The victim, whose age was not immediately clear, had been shot in the mouth, police said. Officers responding to the area for a report of a shooting at around 11 p.m. discovered her unresponsive on the first floor of a property on the 1500 block of Overington Street. Investigators reported no arrests in the case.

A total of 150 people have been killed in Philadelphia this year, up 28% compared to this time in 2020.

Earlier in the day, at around 4 p.m. Sunday, a 17-year-old girl was shot in the back while sitting inside a home on the 2900 block of Amber Street in Kensington, authorities said.

Outside on the street, a 25-year-old man was shot twice in the abdomen, according to investigators. He was taken to a local hospital in a private vehicle and later listed in stable condition.

Medics rushed the girl to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and she is expected to survive.

A suspect was arrested, but authorities released no further information.

Two people were arrested and three guns were recovered after a 35-year-old man was shot in the stomach Monday morning in North Philadelphia, police said.

The shooting occurred at 10 a.m. near the corner of Broad and Ontario streets, and the victim walked into Temple University Hospital, authorities said. He is expected to physically recover.

Police did not provide details on the suspects.

Authorities said a 35-year-old man was in critical condition Monday morning after being stabbed on the street in Frankford.

He was stabbed once in the chest just after 1:30 a.m. on the 4900 block of Duffield Street, according to police. Officers rushed him to Temple University Hospital.

No arrests have been made, and investigators did not find the weapon at the scene.

East Falls crash leaves biker dead

A 25-year-old man who was riding a minibike died Sunday evening after a driver blew through a red light and hit him in East Falls, authorities said.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Henry and Roberts avenue, police said. A car driven by a 29-year-old man allegedly ignored the traffic signal and struck the minibike rider, who was heading west on Roberts.

He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he died a short time later.

There was no word on whether charges will be filed.
