Police on Tuesday announced the arrests of two men in connection with the May 21 shooting death of Markquine Pickett, 19, on the 6900 block of Stenton Avenue in East Mount Airy.

Investigators last Thursday arrested Qurian Sullivan, 22, of the 3900 block of Fairmount Street and on Friday took into custody Onzie Tate, 20, of the 5100 block of Parkside Avenue.

Pickett was found shortly before 9:30 p.m. outside a Rita’s Water Ice stand atStenton Avenue and Haines Street.

He had been shot in the chest.

Pickett was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he died a short time later.

An investigation revealed the shooting did not, as originally reported, occur outside the Rita’s Water Ice stand where Pickett was found, but that he was shot on the 6900 block of Stenton Avenue and ran from the scene, collapsing at that location.

Investigators said the motive for the shooting was robbery.

Sullivan is charged with murder, conspiracy, attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, possession of an instrument of crime and firearm offenses.

Tate is charged with murder, conspiracy, robbery and burglary.

Both men are next due in court June 19 for a preliminary hearing.
