[UPDATE] Ex-cop stabbed in Port Richmond

UPDATE, 9:18 a.m.:Police have released a description of the suspect in the stabbing on 3000 Salmon Street early this morning.

The suspect is described by police as a white male, about 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 200 pounds. The man was wearing all dark clothing when he stabbed the 56-year-old victim, who reportedly is a retired police officer.

Nothing was taken from the victim, who is in stable condition at Temple University Hospital, during the attack outside the 56-year-old man’s Port Richmond home.

A police spokeswoman declined to confirm the victim’s status as a retired police officer.

A retired Philadelphia police officer was stabbed outside his Port Richmond home early this morning.

The attack happened on the 3000 block of Salmon Street about 2 a.m., 6ABC Action News reports.

The victim was stabbed once in his chest. He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he is in stable condition.

The victim is in his 50s.
