UPDATE:
Police said they discovered the corpse of an Asian female in the water of the Schuylkill River early this morning off South Street.
The body has not been identified nor has the manner of death been made public, according to Philadelphia Police public information officer Leeloni Palmiero.
The body was spotted by a construction crew and police were notified around 9:47 a.m., police said.
The body was found in the Schuylkill River, near the intersection of Schuylkill Avenue and South Street, according to police.After police were notified about the floating corpse in the water, marine units were dispatched to remove it from the water.
The body is now being handled by the medical examiner’s office.
