Calling all fans of the weird, wild, and unconventional side of comedy. InterAct Theatre Company is celebrating the alternative side of Philadelphia‘s comedy scene with a two-weekend festival titled ‘Variety Pack.’ Coming to Philly the first two weekends in May at the Louis Bluver Theatre at The Drake (302 S Hicks St.), Variety Pack is both exactly as advertised and completely unpredictable.
With a wide variety of alt-comedy acts, this festival pushes the boundaries of traditional comedy, providing a wild twist on stand-up, improv, sketch, and other forms of comedy. From live cartoons to an improvised episode of HBO’s “Sex And The City,” a performance of the entire Twilight saga in just 60 minutes, and much more.

“Philly is full of weirdos! We have incredible stand-ups, brilliant improv, and an emerging sketch comedy scene, but there’s been a void when it comes to truly wild, out-of-the-box comedy,” says producer and InterAct Literary Manager Chaz Martin. “That space used to belong to the beloved Good Good Comedy, which closed in 2020. Variety Pack is here to bring that spirit back. If you like your comedy weird and unpredictable, this festival is for you.”
The weird and wild celebration begins Thursday, May 1, with ‘Have You Seen My House?,’ a whirlwind cabaret featuring the songs of Patti Smith, Bette Midler, Dolly Pardon, and more. The weekend continues with ‘Live Theatre, Live!,’ ‘Two Letters,’ ‘Yes and the City,’ ‘Cartoon Club,’ ‘The Entire F***ing Twilight Saga…in 60 Minutes,’ and finally ‘Clip Show,’ a live comedy show hosted by renowned character actresses R. Eric Thomas and Chris Newcomer.
The following weekend will see an encore of several performances, in addition to ‘Lady Laughs Pageant,’ a pageant featuring Philly’s only all-women and queer comedy troupe, and ‘One Tan Show,’ a one-woman comedy show by Tan Hoang where everything that can go wrong does.
