Vegan food truck owner praises deaths of ‘carnist’ Las Vegas victims

A vegan food truck owner who scolded the victims of the Las Vegas shooting massacre as “meat eaters” says she’s received death threats for her comments.

Delinda Jensen, 60, of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania wrote on Facebook, “How many animals will live” because of the deaths of the 58 victims, the Times Leader reported. Jenson made the post on Monday night, a day after the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history killed the concertgoers and injured more than 500 others.

Jensen reportedly wrote, “Yes I am jaded. Fifty-nine meat eaters dead. How many animals will live because of this?” She included the gunman, Stephen Paddock, in the death toll. Jensen also posted that she didn’t “give a f–k about carnists anymore.”

Since then, Jensen said she was forced to apologize, delete her Facebook account, close her business, Mother Nature Vegan Cuisine, and hide her food truck.

Jensen later told the Times Leader newspaper the post was a result of a “moment of stupidity.”

“Was it poorly written? Absolutely. Do I regret it? Yes. I am so sorry I wrote that,” she told the paper. “Meat eaters or not, no one deserves to die like that. I wasn’t celebrating the death of those people.”

In an interview with Fox 56, Jensen again said she regretted her statements but attempted to explain her reasoning for the Facebook post.

“It is a known fact that if you are a vegan, that you save 155 to 200 animals a year by being a vegan,” she told the news station. “And being an analytical person that I am, I went, ‘Okay. How many animals will not have to needlessly suffer?'”
