A 16-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department was yesterday arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife and daughter.

Police said 35th District Officer James Timms, 41, was involved in a physical altercation with the woman a week ago at their home on the 100 block of Manheim Street in Germantown.

He was taken into custody and charged with two counts of simple assault and making terroristic threats, as well as one count each of aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment. Bail was set at $100,000.

Timms is next due in court at 10 a.m. on Jan. 29, when he will be tried for two of the offenses and face a preliminary hearing for the remaining charges. Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey has suspended Timms for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.
