Eagles Notebook: Howie Roseman updates coaching search

Howie Roseman re-surfaced Wednesday to update everyone on the Eagles’ coaching search.

It’s been over a week since the team fired head coach Andy Reid. Since that time, they have failed to woo Bill O’Brien and Chip Kelly out of the college ranks, while watching Dirk Koetter sign an extension in Atlanta and Doug Marrone take the Bills gig.

The Eagles GM re-iterated what owner Jeffrey Lurie said the day he fired Reid: patience is key during this process.

“Jeffrey’s been very adamant with us, that the key is getting the right guy. The key isn’t getting the right guy as quickly as possible,” Roseman told PhiladelphiaEagles.com. “So that’s what we’re going to do.”

The Eagles have also interviewed former Bears coach Lovie Smith, Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, Falcons special teams coach Keith Armstrong and are scheduled to meet with Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley and Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden.

Roseman stressed that whomever the organization chooses will have the full support of the front office.

“They know that we have just supported a coach for 14 years. We’re built that way,” Roseman said. “This whole organization is built to support a head coach. They know that, not only in actions, but it words. All they have to do is call Andy Reid and know that’s how we do it.”
