VIDEO: Father gunned down in front of 5-year-old outside South Philadelphia Walgreens

Police have released surveillance footage of a man who allegedly opened fire last night into a car that was carrying a 5-year-old boy.

Investigators said the car occupied by a 45-year-old man and his 5-year-old child was parked in a Walgreens lot on the 2300 block of Oregon Avenue around 8:15 p.m., when the alleged gunman pulled up in a dark gray sedan, possibly a Ford Taurus or Fusion.

The suspect can be seen on tape climbing out of the vehicle and pumping multiple handgun rounds directly into the victim’s car. Police said he fired 17 shots.

The 45-year-old was hit multiple times and is hospitalized in extremely critical condition. The child was not injured, according to police.

The gunman got back into the sedan and fled in an unknown direction. Authorities said there may have been a second man traveling with him, according to witness testimony.

The shooter is described as a 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-2 black male of about 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, gray hoodie and dark jeans. Police said his vehicle has a partial tag of FSH-456.
