Video released of brazen Wissinoming killing

“I’mma bust your a–.”

That’s what a gunman said seconds before he opened fire on a man, killing him in the doorway of his home last week in the Wissinoming section of Northeast Philadelphia.

Authorities released surveillance footage of the incident Thursday in the hopes that the public will be able to identify the suspect.

Delante Johnson, 48, heard a knock at his door at around 11:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, and was confronted by the gunman at the entrance to his house on the 4000 block of Creston Street.

A doorbell camera captured the shooter threatening Johnson, telling him to move and “put it up.” He shot Johnson several times and ran away from the scene with another man, possibly an accomplice.

Police described the gunman as a tall, thin male who was wearing a dark-colored jacket and face mask at the time of the shooting. The other suspect was wearing a dark-colored jacket with light-colored logos on the chest, back and arms, authorities said.

The city offers a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a homicide case.

In other crime news, three people were hospitalized following shootings Wednesday evening.

Police said a man in his 30s was shot four times — twice in the stomach and twice in the upper left leg — at around 6 p.m. Wednesday on the 2600 block of W. Berks Street in North Philadelphia.

He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was in critical condition, according to authorities.

Another person, a 36-year-old man, was also injured in the shooting. He sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand and was in stable condition.

Earlier, just after 4:45 p.m., a 34-year-old man was shot in the right leg on the 1300 block of S. 48th Street in Kingsessing. His injuries are not life-threatening, police said.
