VIDEO Thieves Net $200k Worth of Jewelry in Northeast Phila Heist

Thieves netted $200,000 worth of loot in a Friday-night jewelry store heist in Northeast Philadelphia.

Police responded to reports of a robbery at gunpoint at Belaggio Jewelry, 2115 Cottman Avenue in Rhawnhurst, at 4:50 p.m.

According to the store manager, two armed black men herded three employees into the back office and zip-tied their hands. One of the men went to the front counter case and grabbed trays of jewelry, then the two fled on foot.

As they left, employees hit the alarm button and called police. The manager chased the thieves, catching the attention of an off-duty police officer parked outside.

The officer saw the men get into a green Ford Contour parked in the rear lot of Sears Tires and followed them for six blocks before losing them.

The first suspect is described as a five-foot-ten to six-foot tall black man in his late 30s to early 40s with a reddish beard, close-cut hair and a dark complexion wearing a dark suit with a leather jacket over it

The second man is described as a six-foot tall black man in his mid-to-late 30s wearing a gray hoodie, jeans and brown sunglasses with gold frames.

Both were armed. Police ask anyone with information to call Northeast Detectives at 215-686-3153 or 215-686-3154.
