Women can earn $500,000 more over the span of their careers as a welder, mechanic or construction worker than if they worked in most female-dominated service or office careers. Trade unions and companies in the Philadelphia region are actively seeking women to fill these roles.
Schneps Media, owner of Metro Philly, is hosting a webinar with Women in Nontraditional Careers (WINC) that will provide information, guidance and support for women and girls considering a high-paying career in the trades.
The session can help you discover if the trades are a good match for you or the women in your life. WINC will also showcase its career exploration and training resources, and participants will learn how to stay connected to the organization going forward.
Speakers will include Tureka Dixon, a glazier with Local 252 and the recruitment coordinator for the Finishing Trades Institute, and WINC Program Manager Sue Hoffman.
The webinar will take place at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 2. Click here for more information or to register.
