Things to Do

Wednesday is going to be spirited and delicious

This Wednesday, Philadelphians will have a lot to celebrate. March 24 marks National Cheesesteak Day and National Cocktail Day, and there is plenty to munch and sip on in the City of Brotherly Love.

You can pick up a variety of items at Old City’s artisanal food hall, but this Wednesday, there is an especially big reason to head to Marino Brothers. The vendor’s menu includes rib-eye steaks with choices ranging from cheese and onions, to The Works with mushrooms, onions, and sweet peppers, Pizza Steaks, Cheesesteak Hoagies, and Breakfast Cheesesteaks with eggs and onions as well.

MilkBoy South Street

The second location of the popular Philadelphia-born brand, which spans from bites and music located in Center City, is offering their take on a veggie-friendly cheesesteak, dubbed the “Caulisteak,” made up of American cheese, mushrooms, onions, roasted garlic aioli and of course, cauliflower, available at both locations. For meat lovers, diners can enjoy a Chicken Cheesesteak consisting of “Tommy Sauce,” with or without onions, and choice of beer cheese and American or provolone cheese. This particular sandwich will be available only at MilkBoy South Street. However, patrons will have more than one reason to check out the eatery located across the street from Jim’s Cheesesteaks. MilkBoy has transformed their 4th and South location into a roofed streetery dubbed ‘Rock Salt’ that is chock full of cocktails such as the Pharmacist, made up of bourbon, pineapple, and honey, a classic Moscow Mule, made up of vodka, ginger syrup, and lime, and variations of Old Fashioneds.

East Passyunk Avenue

Hungry and thirsty Philadelphians can head to the South Philly neighborhood of East Passyunk to check out what they have to offer for both National Cheesesteak Day and National Cocktail Day. The most popular choices range from various restaurants and bars such as seasonal whiskey cocktails from Manatawny Still Works, classic and flavored margaritas by the glass or pitcher from Cantina Los Caballitos, and upscale spirits-focused craft drinks from Stateside. As for the cheesy side of the day, the long-running Pat’s and Geno’s will both be open for business.
