1 killed, 11 wounded in weekend shootings, stabbings across Philadelphia

At least a dozen people were shot or stabbed over the weekend in Philadelphia, including one man who died from his injuries.

Police said a man was killed after being shot twice in his leg just before 1:15 a.m. Saturday on the 2200 block of Tasker Street in Point Breeze. He has not been publicly identified, and no arrests were made in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.

On Sunday, just before 12:30 p.m., someone shot a 46-year-old man twice in his left thigh on the 300 block of E. Eleanor Street in Feltonville, investigators said. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

A 47-year-old man was hospitalized after he was stabbed in his shoulder, back and hand just after noon Sunday on the 800 block of E. Cornwall Street in Kensington, police said. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

Officers responded at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday to a property on the 1300 block of Adams Avenue in Frankford, where a 22-year-old man had been stabbed in his left side, according to authorities. He was hospitalized in critical condition.

Two men were in critical condition after both were stabbed in the neck at 8:30 a.m. Sunday on the 400 block of E. Wyoming Avenue in Feltonville, investigators said. One of the victims is 29 years old, while the age of the other was not immediately clear, police said.

A 15-year-old girl was shot once in her thigh just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday on the 700 block of N. 47th Street in the Mill Creek section of West Philadelphia, according to police. She was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition.

Earlier, on Sunday just after midnight, a 58-year-old woman was shot in her leg on the 1800 block of S. 54th Street in Kingsessing, authorities said. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Investigators said a suspect was arrested at the scene.

On Saturday, at around 9 p.m., a 47-year-old woman’s head was grazed by a bullet on the 5000 block of Homestead Street, not far from the Delaware River in Wissinoming, police said. She was hospitalized in stable condition.

A 43-year-old man was stabbed in his ribs at around 1:15 p.m. Saturday aboard a westbound Market-Frankford Line train that was near the Erie-Torresdale stop in Juniata, according to authorities.

Investigators said the victim took SEPTA to Point Breeze before officers transported him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Two people were struck when gunfire erupted just before 3:45 a.m. Saturday on the 5900 block of Market Street in West Philadelphia, police said.

A 57-year-old woman was shot in her left thigh, and a 54-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his right arm, according to investigators. Both are expected to survive.

Officers were called at around 1:15 a.m. Saturday to Jeanes Hospital, after a woman showed up with a gunshot wound to her foot, according to authorities.

Police said she was injured when three men in masks and black clothing attempted to rob her on the 1000 block of Bleigh Avenue in the Burholme section of Northeast Philadelphia. The suspects did not take anything from her, investigators said.
