What to expect at Panorama 2016

The Main Line Art Center in Haverford will be the hub for both interactive multimedia and artistic performances for the Art Center’s second presentation of Panorama: Image-Based Art in the 21st Century” on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Fire spinners and stilt walkers from 7textures will be outside wielding fire and hovering over the crowd beginning at 5:30 p.m. The festival, true to it’s multimedia focus, will have 2016 Digital Artist in Residence Leo Haylan’s interactive multimedia performances projected on the Art Center’s historical White House. Panorama’s feature exhibition, “Enlightened Earth” will be on display inside. The multimedia exhibit, which will be on view through Nov. 5, analyzes nature and our complex ties to its past, present and future and features the works of Julianna Foster, Nick Pedersen and Mark Dorf.
The Art Center’s black and white dark room will also feature artist Matt Giel with a presentation of his photography from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
If you’re hungry, there will also be food trucks from Chef Johnny Bravo’s Surf ‘N Turf and Short Mobile Cuisine. DJ The Architech will be spinning some records to complement the eye-catching displays and food.
The festival is for all ages and all attendees have a chance to try out their creative ideas with hands-on projects like image transfers, silkscreen prints and t-shirts, and stop-animation productions. The hands-on workshops are a way to show people what they can make when combing new technology with traditional mediums.
