What’s next for constantly changing 76ers?

The transformation continues.

When will it end? Good question.

Sam Hinkie was clearly the most active executive on deadline day, making a flurry of moves.

Michael Carter-Williams? Gone.

K.J. McDaniels? Gone.

Hinkie dealt All-Star Jrue Holiday before MCW, so it appears no player is safe on the Sixers. It’s a fluid process which has netted the Sixers numerous draft picks – as many as four first-round picks in 2015. It’s likely to be two with the others rolling into next year and beyond.

The Sixers finished 19-63 last season and they’re currently 12-44. They lost to Indiana, Orlando and Miami since the trade deadline. Next up is a visit Wednesday night at Milwaukee, the new home for Carter-Williams.

So many players have come and gone since coach Brett Brown took over before last season.

It has to be a difficult situation, but Brown is 100 percent on board.

“I remember sitting in a draft room last year and realizing that we are going to take Dario Saric and Joel Embiid, and they are not even going to play this year after we came out with 19 wins,” Brown said. “You take a deep breath and you say that is what is best for the city. That is what is best for the Philadelphia 76ers, so that is what we should do.I think as a coaching staff and a front office, if we truly believe that and we deliver through our actions, then good things will come for the program, in the long run. That is my philosophy and something I intend on sticking with.”

When MCW was dealt just before the deadline, it sent some shockwaves through the city and the league.

After all, this was the reigning Rookie of the Year.

Carter-Williams struggled with his offense, most notably his shot. Just like that, he was traded to the Bucks.

“I think it is a harsh and unfair judgment to tell someone who came off shoulder surgery and didn’t have any time to practice on his shot, that he categorically is never going to be a good shooter,” Brown said. “If you do the math and study, you can improve shooting.”

He’ll almost certainly improve under Bucks coach Jason Kidd, a former star point guard.

“I think Michael Carter-Williams is going to be a hell of a player,” Brown said. “I am going to be real curious watching him go to Milwaukee and play under a point guard that I always referenced.I would say who are you going to be, and inevitably I would come back to Jason. It is ironic that this is where he has ended up. His shot, his turnovers … I think that is all fixable. I think that he is going to be a hell of a player in the league and Milwaukee got a great player. I loved coaching Michael.”

Brown’s point guards are now Isaiah Canaan and Tim Frazier with JaKarr Sampson as an emergency backup. That’s quite different from Holiday and MCW.

Brown’s players are still so young, so inexperienced.

Heading into Brown’s third year, Embiid is expected to play. You never know. The roster transformation could still be in major flux.

Staying patient for a third year is a given. Beyond that, it’s a simple game of wait-and-see. But there has to be an end game at some point.
