In celebration of National Cheeseburger Day this Friday, September 18th, some spots around the city are offering an assortment of juicy specials for all to indulge in.
Community
Community, a new gastropub and artisan hotspot, will be taking over the building where Burg’s Hideaway Lounge once stood in Point Breeze. Although the new eatery from Chef Michael Sultan and his wife Angela, the husband-and-wife team behind 33rd Street Hospitality isn’t set to open until the 21st, they are going to still be celebrating National Cheeseburger Day. This Friday, September 18th, Community will be giving the first 100 people who show up (beginning at noon) a free burger to celebrate the holiday. Chef Sultan’s dry-aged burger features choice dry-aged beef from Indian Ridge Provisions, house-made bacon, Cooper sharp American cheese, onions, house-made habanero pickles and burger sauce on a Martin’s potato roll. The burgers will be available for to-go orders or for customers to enjoy at one of the new establishment’s outside tables. The opening menu debuting next week will also feature an array of evening-time options on top of the cheeseburger including tacos, po’ boys, pot pie, chicken fried rabbit legs, wings, and a variety of sandwiches, salads and different entrees as well. Vegan and vegetarian options will also be available, and guests can also look for a slew of seasonal items to rotate through when the weather gets cold, including; matzoh ball and French onion soups, flatbreads, homemade pastas and prime rib specials.

Every burger purchase is equivalent to one raffle entry and entries are not limited. While there, guests can also indulge in Golden Hour from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring half-off draft beer and frozen drinks on the socially distanced green. According to a release, Walnut Street Café, the sister restaurant to Sunset Social, also has an elevated Double Cheeseburger for a steal at $12, complete with chopped onion, pickle, American cheese, pickle chips and french fries.
