Fantasy leagues are rarely won in Rounds 1 or 2 of the draft. Even dolts like “the Situation” know that Chris Johnson is going to have a good year.
Fantasy leagues are won in the middle rounds, where guys like Mike Wallace, Jamaal?Charles and Darren McFadden become studs.?Here are this year’s mid-round value picks:
Super Mario
Over the final three weeks of last season, Mario Manningham put his skills on display by going off for three 100-yard games and four touchdowns. Now that Steve Smith (knee) is out of the picture, Manningham is going to start and is poised for a breakout fourth season. He’s underrated as a deep threat and as a runner after the catch.
Beanie is back
Beanie Wells has averaged just 10.0 carries per game in his first two seasons. Due to consistently nagging knee pain, he has looked inept. Now that Tim Hightower is gone and his knee issues have been corrected, that is all about to change. Wells is a 15-17 carry per game back that can be had cheaply.
Cleared Collie
Austin Collie’s 2010 season will be remembered for his scary concussions. But when he was on the field, he averaged 6.4 catches for 72.1 yards and scored eight times in nine games. With Reggie Wayne losing a step or two, Collie’s health is worth rolling the dice on.
