Which top prospects will the Eagles target in the 2015 NFL draft?

As the draft approaches, the Eagles’ front office has been flitting players in and out of the NovaCare Center and flying to pro days around the country.

Sure, they may not always like what they see.But it’s a good starting point. In 2014, Marcus Smith, Jaylen Watkins, and Taylor Hart all visited the team.Chip Kelly was also at Smith’s and Jordan Matthews’ pro days.

Here are some prospects that the Eagles have been paying close attention to:

Brett Hundley – QB, UCLA

Hundley is a dual-threat quarterback, but not the one most expect the Eagles to take.Where he goes is up in the air, but he’s in the conversation for third quarterback taken.

The Eagles held a private workout for Hundleyand met with him at the Combine. How drafting a quarterback after trading for Sam Bradford would work remains to be seen. But, as with other spread quarterbacks, the Eagles’ offense could be an easy transition for Hundley.

Breshad Perriman – WR, Central Florida

Here’s a position with much clearer need and he’sanother player who visited.Perriman’s stock is rising after a 4.24 forty at his pro day.Pair that with 6-foot-2, 212 pounds, stir, and you’ve got a first round wide receiver.

Perriman has drops and doesn’t run the most polished routes, which is why he isn’t up with the Amari Coopers and Kevin Whites of the world. He could go both ways, but he’s got NFL pedigree: His father, Brett, had 1,488 receiving yards for Detroit in 1995.

Nelson Agholor – WR, USC

Agholor is a very different receiver than Perriman but no less viable a prospect for the Eagles, who brought him in for a visit.Smallerand projected to play in the slot, Agholor built up a reputation for solid routes and hands while turning in a monster season for the Trojans: 104 catches, 1,313 yards, and 12 touchdowns in 2014.He’s also a factor in the return game.

Agholor is a bit of a reach for the Birds to think about at number 20, but it’s anyone’s guess if he’ll still be there at 52.

Jake Fisher – OT, Oregon

At last, the Oregon Duck. This is one scenario where it makes sense.A top combine performer, Fisher fits the athletic mold of an Eagles’ lineman, and could start his career at guard, just where the Eagles need immediate help.

At 6-foot-6, Fisher still could play tackle, once Jason Peters’ time with the team draws to a close.Fisher is similar to Agholor in draft stock: taking him at 20 would definitely be considered a reach, with the Eagles prioritizing scheme over players ranked higher on most draft boards.

Byron Jones – CB, Connecticut

Jones just set a new world record in the broad jump at the combine. While that has him skyrocketing up draft boards, it also attaches the dirty phrase “work-out warrior.”While some question the level of opposition Jones faced, the Eagles are interested.

Chip Kelly was at Connecticut’s pro day and the Eagles scheduled Jones for a visit.Jones has also played safety, a position this draft is weak in.

Here are a few other recognizable names in the mix:

Kevin Johnson – CB, Wake Forest

Eric Rowe – CB, Utah

La’el Collins – T, LSU

Jalen Collins – CB, LSU

Denzel Perryman – LB, Miami

Metro Philadelphia
