Why 50 years in Philly’s gay-rights fight is a ‘remarkable and heroic story’

Philly’s LGBT community this weekend commemorates the 50 th anniversary of one of America’s first major gay-rights demonstrations. On July 4, 1965, about 40 gay and lesbian Philadelphians held signs demanding equal rights and marched in front of Independence Hall.
