Angelo Cataldi and the brain trust behind Wing Bowl, Philly’s annual celebration of gluttony and flesh, are constantly trying to push the envelope. This time, they have pushed it right off the operating table.
Morgan O’Brien, a 27-year-old from Churchville, has always considered herself an attractive, empowered female. But, probably not unlike the other scantily-clad divas strutting the stage, O’Brien has also been keenly aware of her flaws.
Not anymore.
O’Brien, with the help of Bucks County plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Skalicky, was chosen to undergo a series of procedures, including breast enhancements, nasal refinement and lip filler. On Friday, she will be unveiled at Wing Bowl 21 as The Ultimate Wingette.
“I always wanted to look better and feel my age again,” O’Brien said. “I’m sure if you asked any female, they would tell you that they have thought about plastic surgery. Now, I feel more self-confident. I feel more happy about myself.”
O’Brien went under the knife Jan. 3, enduring surgery that lasted for an hour and a half. Then, she spent three days relaxing in her recliner before returning to work Jan. 8.
“I’m thrilled that the things I wanted changed are changed,” she said. “He [Dr. Skalicky] is an artist. Excellent.”
The only people that have seen her since the surgery have been her co-workers and family, including 4-year-old son Michael. O’Brien said that if she hadn’t been wearing a nose splint, Michael wouldn’t have noticed the changes.
“He didn’t really recognize the breast size,” said O’Brien, who went from a 32A to a 32D cup size. “I don’t think that would be something he’d be aware of.”
Cataldi is trying to keep as many details as he can under wraps. O’Brien isn’t sure what he has planned for her Friday, only that she will be announced and paraded out in front of the masses.
“I’m a little bit nervous, but really excited,” O’Brien said. “Everybody there is happy, everybody is there to celebrate. I can’t wait.”
Looking at a Perfect 10
When Metro asked Morgan O’Brien to rate her looks on a scale from 1-10 (pre- and post-operation), she didn’t flinch. She called herself a 7 before the surgery and a 10 after it.
“Everybody’s opinion is different, but I’m going to tell you I’m a 10,” she said.
Look for Morgan at Wing Bowl 21 Friday morning at the Wells Fargo Center. Doors open at 5 a.m. and the parking lots open at 4 a.m. Three-time champion Jonathan “Super” Squibb is the odds-on favorite at 3-2. Last year’s winner, Takeru Kobayashi, who devoured 337 wings in 30 minutes will not be defending his title.
