Homicide detectives are investigating after a 30-year-old woman was killed in an apparent shootout Saturday night on a West Philadelphia street, police said.

The alleged shooter, a 33-year-old woman, remained at the scene and handed her gun over to officers, according to authorities. Police did not disclose a possible motive in the shooting, and no charges had been filed as of Sunday.

Officers were called at around 11:30 p.m. to 62nd and Market streets for a report of a person with a gun and a woman shot, investigators said. They spoke to the shooter nearby, who told them that she exchanged gunfire with a woman at the intersection, according to the PPD.

Authorities located the victim unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds to her chest and back, and she was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead a short time later, police said. She has not been publicly identified.

The other woman was transported to police headquarters for questioning, and detectives found a second gun at the scene, investigators said.
