A woman died after she was apparently impaled on an iron gate Saturday morning outside Xfinity Live!, part of the South Philadelphia sports complex.
After the 48-year-old woman was found unresponsive hanging from the gate, medics transported her to Jefferson Methodist Hospital, police said. She was pronounced dead at around 8:45 a.m., according to authorities. Police said she had wounds on both of her legs and feet.
“No other apparent signs of trauma were observed,” the PPD’s Office of Public Affairs said in a statement. “The investigation is ongoing with South Detectives; however, at this time there’s no indication of foul play.”
The PPD has not identified the woman, and the Medical Examiner’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for information.
Representatives from Xfinity Live! did not return a call seeking comment Sunday.
