Woman held hostage in Montco for 13 days escapes

A woman allegedly held captive by her boyfriend in Montgomery County for 13 days recently escaped, according to a report from The Times Herald.

Mauro Casa-Hernandez allegedly restrained his girlfriend, whose identity is being protected, and kept her under constant watch at his home in Trappe Borough, Pa.

Police were first called to the residence on April 22 around 2:30 a.m. and concluded that Casa-Hernandez had beaten the woman, giving her an orbital fracture around her left eye, according to police reports cited by the paper. Following the incident, Casa-Hernandez allegedly continued to beat her, restrained her from calling for help and threatened additional injury if she called the police.

The woman was reportedly unable to escape until May 4, when she fled around 6 p.m. and admitted herself to a hospital. Staff placed her under suicide watch and called state police, according to the paper.

Casa-Hernandez was arrested at his home the same day and is charged with aggravated assault. He is currently locked up at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail.
