A 33-year-old woman was injured in what appears to be an accidental shooting after her 6-year-old son found a gun Saturday night in Olney, authorities said.
The boy, investigators said, found the weapon outside a home on the 5600 block of N. 7th Street. He brought it inside to his mother, who handed the gun to her husband. Police said he tried to “clear” the firearm, which typically involves unloading the weapon.
That’s when, authorities said, a shot was fired, striking the woman in her hip. She was taken to Einstein Medical Center for treatment, and her injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.
Detectives were still investigating the incident Sunday.
