Woman critical after being shot in the head in West Philadelphia

Philadelphia Police responded to a call to the 3900 block of Wyalusing Avenue in West Philadelphia just after 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. The call was for a person screaming.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a 24-year-old woman who had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and thigh.

PFD-Medic Unit transported the victim to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition, according to authorities.

Police have said that the investigation is ongoing with the Shooting Investigation Group. The scene was held, but there have been no arrests, and no weapon was found.
