What little kid doesn’t dream of playing baseball with the big leagues? Thanks to Wayback Burgers and Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, eight-year-old Cruz is getting closer to his dream every day. Cruz and his family, which includes his parents Chad and Gena and little sister Hartley, are West Chester natives who will be enjoying this experience of Cruz throwing the first pitch at 6:45pm tonight at Citizens Bank Park. The young fan loves baseball, and this event puts him one step closer to his ultimate dream of meeting the Chicago Cubs. Cruz became hooked on baseball when he discovered that Anthony Rizzo, who plays first base for the Cubs, was still able to play after battling cancer himself. Cruz will be able to meet the Chicago Cubs this summer, but his journey starts with throwing the first pitch at tonight’s Phillies game against the Miami Marlins. Because his dream was to play in the major leagues, this experience means so much more to him (and everyone else, we’re sure) than just getting a team member to throw the first pitch.
President of Wayback Burgers John Eucalitto says he’s “honored to help provide a priceless experience Cruz will be able to remember for a lifetime.”
