Over the past week, the Phillies have traded away Howie Kendrick, Jeremy Hellickson, Pat Neshek and Joaquin Benoit. It’s a fittigly busy week — one that saw several blockbluster trades that moved stars like Sonny Gray and Yu Darvish to playoff contenders.

While the Phillies are far from contending, as signified by their willingness to sell sell sell they did come away with a sweep of the Braves at Citizens Bank Park this past weekend, always an encouraging sign. As is the fact that they now have one of the youngest 25-man rosters in baseball after parting ways with nearly all of their veteran players.

Did the Phils get any kind of quality return for their four tradees? Here’s a brief look at the newest prospects down on the farm:

Jose Gomez, SS (from Rockies in Neshek trade)

Gomez is the lone position player acquired by the Phillies at the deadline and he has the potential to be a great big league hitter. At just 20 and in Single-A, he has hit .324 this year with 33 RBI and 18 stolen bases.

Alejandro Requena, RHP (for Neshek)

A teammate of Gomez’ Requena has a big arm and at 20, big things could lie ahead. He is 8-3 on the year with a 2.85 ERA in 19 starts.

J.D. Hammer, RHP (for Neshek)

The 23-year-old made his Clearwater debut Sunday and threw two scoreless innings in relief. This year as a whole Hammer is 4-2 with a 2.25 ERA and 13 saves.

McKenzie Mills, LHP (from Nationals in Kendrick trade)

Mills is another low-level arm with impressive stats. For the Nats’ Single-A affiliate Hagerstown, Mills has a 12-2 record and 3.01 ERA.

Garrett Cleavinger, LHP (from Orioles in Hellickson trade)

Cleavinger is 23 and could benefit from a change of scenery as he’s struggled to adjust to Double-A this season. He has a 6.28 ERA in 21 appearances thus far for Bowie.

Seth McGarry, LHP (from Pirates in Benoit trade)

McGarry is 23 and has a 1.34 ERA in just over 40 innings of work in Single-A. He has been used as a closer and has a pretty impressive 14 saves in 15 tries this season.
