… And who said thinking you’re smarter than politicians doesn’t pay?

In this, the reality- and never-ending TV-competition age, it was only a matter of time before someone came along with a public legislative contest. Enter state Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams’s “There Oughta Be A Law” competition in which he’s “asking constituents from across the state to submit ideas for new laws.”

“Some of the nation’s most significant legislation like Megan’s Law has come from the ideas of constituents. At best this competition could lead to the creation of important laws and as a minimum it will promote civic involvement,” Williams said.

At least one winner will be selected. Williams will introduce the winning idea next spring. If you win, you may have the chance to testify on your bill’s behalf at a formal Senate hearing.
