A heavily armed man was killed by police inside a Pennsylvania Walmart, officials said.
According to Pennsylvania state police, at 10:11 p.m. Saturday night police received reports of a man “threatening and pointing a weapon at customers.”
Stroud Area Regional Police responded to the Walmart super store on Lincoln Avenue in East Stroudsburg Borough, Monroe County.
“Upon arriving on scene, Stroud Area Regional Officers encountered the male and verbally ordered him to drop his weapon,” said a report released Sunday morning bystate police.”The male refused to follow the officer’s commands and continued to point the weapon at the officers. The officers fired upon the male striking him in the upper chest area. The male was immediately secured into police custody and officers provided first aid until EMS responded.”
The male was pronounced dead at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.
No other injuries were reported, police said.
