A man who allegedly fired indiscriminately into a Northeast Philadelphia bar last week — killing a 21-year-old woman — was apprehended Wednesday in Atlantic City, police said.
Anthony Nelson, 47, is expected to be extradited to Philadelphia and charged with murder, firearms violations and other offenses, a police spokesperson said. He was arrested at Harrah’s Resort, according to multiple media reports.
Nelson allegedly fired 15 shots from a parking lot toward Philly Bar and Restaurant, located in a strip mall on the 2400 block of Welsh Road, at around 11:45 p.m. June 28 after he had been kicked out of the establishment, investigators said at the time.
One of those bullets struck Jailene Holton, who was at the bar with friends, in the head. She died early the next morning.
Holton’s funeral was held Thursday. According to her obituary, she worked at a store in the Neshaminy Mall and enjoyed video games, reading and social media.
A GoFundMe to benefit Holton’s family exceeded its goal of $35,000.
