Broad Street Run lottery begins

The most famous race in Philadelphia is using a lottery system.

Last year, after a hectic first-come, first-served registration for the Blue Cross Broad Street Run, organizers are using a lottery system. The lottery began at 12:01 a.m. Monday and runs until Feb. 15 at 11:59 p.m.

Those lucky enough to be chosen — there are 40,000 spots — will be notified via email on Feb. 19 by 10 a.m. For more information, go to broadstreetrun.com.
