The Garden at Cherry Street Pier offers stunning views

Cherry Street Pier offers Philadelphians a unique adventure down by the Delaware River Waterfront.

When it first opened years ago (or reopened with a new eclectic concept shall we way) Philadelphians flocked to see the charm of the updated space. And then the updates kept coming—including with the addition of The Garden.

The Garden at Cherry Street Pier is the first of several eateries and restaurants to bring foodies, families and tourists back to the banks of the waterfront for the coming spring, summer and fall seasons (it officially opened April 16). Think of it as an open-air food hall with greenery, a waterfront breeze but a city feel, and in 2022, there’s a new chef, menu and drink options to explore.

The Garden is located on the water-facing side of Cherry Street Pier passed the open pods, local art and other small businesses, and it features 20,000 square feet of space, seating for over 250 guests, outdoor tables, covering and shade, oversized games, lush greenery, colorful flowers and the best part of all—the views.

As a release states, for 2022, The Garden has introduced new Head Chef Miguel Angel Hernandez Mota who presents a menu that blends Philadelphia classics with some Puebladephia influences. For those not in the know, Puebladelphia refers to the large Mexican community in Philadelphia hailing from the region of Puebla.

“You can just taste it when you are eating something that the kitchen has put attention, time, and pride into creating,” said FCM Hospitality’s Special Events Director Neina Langford. “We can’t wait for guests to come and try this new menu, especially the Birria tacos.”

On top of the tacos (which are made with raised brisket, queso mixto, cilantro and onion on a toasted corn tortilla with side of Consomme), Philadelphians who head to The Garden at Cherry Street Pier can also try the Pueblahdelphia Cheesesteak (brisket, poblano rajas, onion and queso chihuahua on a seeded long roll with chipotle mayo), Hamburguesa (boasting lettuce, tomato, crispy onions, guacamole, jalapeno relish and queso chihuahua on a Martin’s seeded roll) nachos, taco salad and much, much more.

For a sweet finish, the establishment will also offer La Newyorkina Palettas and Mexican style fresh juice ice pops (with flavors ranging from raspberry mango, pineapple mint, coconut or Oaxacan chocolate). The kids menu on the other hand will span a burger, kids nachos, steak tacos and a chicken sandwich.

The Garden at Cherry Street Pier will also serve up a full line-up of drinks including cocktails with some favorites being the Hanami Punch (tequila, soju, St. Germain, green tea and lemon juice), Bee’s Knees (gin, honey and lemon juice), RIP Duckboat (whiskey, peach schnapps, blue curacao, white cranberry juice and lime juice) plus, frozen drinks (such as the margarita and electric lemonade) and Claffey’s frozen boozy popsicles. There will also be a selection of wines and beer (both by draft and can) being offered to pair with your food. Non-alchoholic drinks span fresh lemonade, bottled water, soda, juice and Red Bull.

All drinks come from Beverage Director, Matt Deutsch, who put his own personal touch into the menu.
