Cinco de Mayo in Philadelphia: Here’s how to fiesta

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Philadelphia, Revolution Taco will be offering some specialty items available for May 5 only— their chicken chorizo queso fundido ($5.55) and a mango lychee margarita mixer ($4.99, bring your own tequila). Additionally, the Center City spot will offer a complimentary Michelada for dine-in orders (offered all day, one per customer) with a $10 purchase.

Pancho’s Cafe

The Northern Liberties eatery will be throwing down for the spirited holiday by offering $6 street corn and $6 churros, plus free aguas locas and Micheladas while supplies last from 5 to 8 p.m.

Sor Ynez

From 4 to 9 p.m. on May 5, Philadelphians can head to Sor Ynez to check out an event chock full of live music, food and drink specials, and a snow cone machine serving up both normal and alcoholic options. Entertainment-wise, diners can check out live jazz music by Larry Toft from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by a set by DJ XTINA from 6 to 9 p.m. Food and drink specials will be available all day, with some highlights including a carnitas platter (with pickled vegetables, pinto beans, tortillas, cilantro, lime and habanero salsa) and a vegan coli-asada (a cauliflower steak grilled and served with black refried beans and a creamy almond arbol pepper salsa.)

Manatawny Still Works 

Manatawny will be throwing down for the holiday by celebrating the release of their newest gin aged in tequila barrels. Philadelphians can head to the brand’s East Passyunk tasting room on May 5 to try  cocktails featuring the new gin, and churros (with chocolate and dulce de leche) from 5 to 10 p.m.

Bar Bombón

Bar Bombón will actually be celebrating Cinco de Mayo in Philadelphia all week long, with specials available now through May 8. Highlights include $5 taco specials including their heart of palm “fish” tacos (grilled corn slaw, avocado, cilantro-lime vinaigrette and chipotle crema,) plus $8 drink specialsthe El Fantasma (tequila reposado, lemon juice, crème de cassis and jarritos tamarind.) The latter will be only $5 on May 5.

Sueño

Celebrations start early for the holiday at Sueño. Craft Concept Group’s Center City spot will be opening a few hours early on May 5 at 11 a.m. (think lots of food and margs) and then from 3 to 8 p.m., look for a DJ, two margarita bars outside with three classic and special flavors, and $8 house margaritas, $5 crunchy tacos and $15 Birria tacos.

Tio Flores

This year, Tio Flores will be throwing its first ever Cinco de Mayo BBQ Block Party. Set for Thursday, May 5, the South Street hotspot will be offering specials all throughout the day inside (from noon to midnight,) but also outside for a celebration from 3 to 10 p.m. Tio Flores will close down 16th Street from South to Kater, and party into the night with their cookout—serving signature margaritas, tacos, spicy street corn, churro donuts, buckets of beer, and much more. On top of food and drink, guests can also enjoy live music (Latin beats from DJ Kevin Kong), lawn games, salsa dancing and booze-bustin’ piñatas.

Añejo

Añejo in Northern Liberties will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo in Philadelphia all day long on May 5—but there will be a special Cinco Siesta lunch from noon to 4 p.m. During the lunch, Philadelphians (for $14 per person) can try chips and salsa with your choice of a burrito, torta or two tacos, plus a side of rice and beans. Then, in the evening, DJ Sojo will be spinning Latin beats and margarita flights ($25 for four minis) will be available in Cinco flavors (strawberry, guava, passion fruit and mango) or Traditional flavors (blanco, anejo, mezcal and jalapeno).

El Camino Real

To celebrate the spirited holiday, El Camino Real will be throwing their own fiesta with a tent, full bar and DJ outside from 3 to 10 p.m. Cinco Happy Hour however will take place beforehand from 4 to 6 p.m. with half priced margaritas (available for all variations.) Food specials all day (inside and outside) on the other hand include a 12 inch carne asada crispy taco-grilled steak (with pico de gallo, guacamole, chihuahua cheese sauce, lettuce, and crema,) tacos al pastor (made with spit roasted pork and pineapple salsa,) and a crispy chicken torta (made with tortilla crusted chicken breast, salsa rojo, black bean spread, guacamole, oaxaca cheese and guacamole.)

Buena Onda

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Philadelphia, Buena Onda will be offering $4 drafts, $5 classic margaritas, $3.50 shrimp tacos, $5 chips and guacamole and $2 chicken tacos from open to close. Philadelphians who plan to have their own get together for the holiday can also order ahead for catering or large groups.
