Crash leaves two dead, two injured in South Philadelphia

Two people were kiiled and two others injured in a single-car crash in South Philadelphia early Friday morning, reports said.

A Mazda carrying four passengers crashed on Christopher Columbus Boulevard near Oregon Avenue around 2:30 a.m., police told NBC10.

Police told 6ABC that a 23-year-old female driver lost control of the car and crashed into a PECO building.

The crash killed the two passengers in the backseat, an unidentified man and woman in their 20s, both of whom were declared dead at the scene, investigators told NBC10.

The driver and a 25-year-old female passenger were both taken to an area hospital for unspecified injuries, 6ABC reported.

According to witnesses, the car appeared to have been speeding, NBC10 reported, however, police did not confirm that detail. Police said that a preliminary investigation showed the driver may have not had a valid license.
