Everyone is getting in on Eagles fever. With just four days to go to the big game, Philadelphia will host an official Super Bowl pep rally for the Eagles Wednesday afternoon at Reading Terminal in Center City.
Philadelphia City Council president Darrell Clarke, Reading Terminal merchants and representatives and Eagles fans will be gathering in the Terminal’s center square by the Philbert the Pig statue at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The pep rally will also serve as an opportunity for Clarke to officially challenge Boston City Council president Andrea Campbell to a wager over the Super Bowl.
Clarke will be wagering some of the culinary delights that are sold at Reading Terminal and around Philly, offering them as a prize should the Patriots and QB Tom Brady win their sixth Super Bowl.
They include cheesesteaks from South Street-based Jim’s Steaks, Old City Coffee, and even “the infamous chocolate-covered onion from Mueller’s Chocolates.”
Campbell offered up for this wager the paltry reward of some cannolis from Boston produced at “Mike’s Pastry” for if the Eagles win.
Doesn’t sound very good to us, but we’ll happily take them after the Eagles snag the ring in Minnesota on Feb. 4.
The Eagles’ pep rally and official declaration of the Boston v. Philly City Council presidents’ wager over the game will take place at 3:30 p.m., Reading Terminal Market, 12th and Arch streets, on Jan. 31.
