The Flyers made the signing of Vincent Lecavalier official Saturday. The team confirmed it had inked a multi-year contract with the 33-year-old center. The deal is reportedly worth $22.5 million over five years.

Lecavalier, a 14-year NHL veteran, was bought out by Tampa Bay where he spent his entire career. He scored 10 goals and 22 assists last season for the Lightning, while serving as team captain. Lecavalier has tallied 383 goals and 491 assists in 1,037 games. He helped lead Tampa Bay to the Stanley Cup championship in 2003-04.

“It is a great honor for me to be a part of the Flyers,” Lecavalier said. “This is a great hockey team with a great history which I’m very proud to be a part of. I’m going to do my best to help lead this team to another championship.”
