Ray Emery is back with the Flyers. The Orange and Black signed the free-agent goaltender Friday, according to GM Paul Holmgren.
The 30-year-old won a Stanley Cup with Chicago this past season serving mostly as a backup. He went 17-1-0 in 21 regular-season games in 2012-13, with a 1.94 GAA and .922 save percentage.
Emery played for the Flyers in the 2009-10 season. He went 16-11-1 with a 2.64 GAA and .905 save percentage in 29 games. Emery’s tenure was marred by injury after he was diagnosed with avascular necrosis in March 2010. He underwent surgery on his right hip in April 2010 to repair it.
