Fishtown Fall FeastivALE 

This Saturday, the Fishtown area of the city will be hosting their Fall FeastivALE, which showcases top food/drinks from over 20 of the area’s restaurants and bars, plus 100+ retail stores and other vendors. From noon to 8 p.m., this year’s festivities include an expanded kids’ corner, carnival games, a local celebrity dunk tank, three DJ stages and more. Restaurants and vendors participating include Calle Del Sabor, Cheu Fishtown and Nunu, Frankford Hall, Johnny Brendas, Kismet Bagels, La Colombe, Weckerly’s Ice Cream and many more (a full list is available online.)

In all, Philadelphians will be able to sift through dozens of options that span burgers, brisket, Bavarian pretzels, gluten-free baked goods, vegan treats, plus cocktails, beer and cider to pair it with all. And, according to the release, family fun will include a free performance by the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts Youth Troupe at 3 p.m, (at Frankford and Oxford), and kids of all ages can also enjoy inflatable games and a prize booth, and other surprises in the kids’ corner. 

The release also states that the Fishtown Fall FeastivALE runs along Frankford Avenue, between Girard Avenue and Columbia Ave, with additional festival activities along Master, Thompson, and Lee streets. The festival is just steps from the Girard Stop on the Market-Frankford Line, and just two blocks from The Fillmore and River’s Casino, and is lined with boutiques offering handmade and curated wares, bakeries, cafes, restaurants and more.

New Hope Arts Festival

On Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., over 160 fine artists and craftsmen will take part in the New Hope Arts Festival, highlighting work in mediums such as oil paintings, watercolors, pastels, sculpture, fine and fun jewelry, ceramics, works in wood, fiber, furniture, wearable art, glass art, photography,  and more. The festival takes place at the New Hope Solebury High School parking lot, just a few minutes walk from the center of the business district, and there is a free bus to from the festival parking to South Main Street at the Bucks County Playhouse.

Montgomery County Studio Tour

As part of Arts Montco Week, the Montgomery County Studio Tour is back during the creative activation on Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sept. 25, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Now in its 5th year, this specific showcase will offer first-hand access to 30 studios throughout the county with artists on-hand to interact, answer questions and explain more of their process. Studios will showcase exhibit paintings, sculptures, jewelry, photography, clay, glass, paper and fiber throughout the experience.

The best way to take in the Studio Tour is through a personalized itinerary that visitors can curate themselves. By checking out countystudiotour.com, Philadelphians can click the “Add to Itinerary” button of their favorite artists, and have Google Maps plot the most efficient route, providing turn-by-turn directions to each chosen studio. Members of the public can also start with a studio close to their starting point, or anywhere they like, by using a map, according to a release.

Shop Center City Saturdays 

On consecutive Saturdays—Sept. 24 and Oct. 1—Center City District (CCD) is promoting Shop Center City Saturdays, an annual campaign that highlights the one-of-a-kind shopping experiences offered throughout the district’s many retail corridors, a release states. With access to the Avenue of the Arts, Market East, Midtown Village and Rittenhouse Row, the designated days are meant to elevate the typical Philadelphia experience, while ultimately offering a well-rounded agenda of shopping, dining and entertainment.

During Shop Center City Saturdays, happenings and offerings will vary. On Sept. 24 the Shop CCS spirit will coincide with Restaurant Week, and also Rittenhouse Row Fall Fashion Festival. As a release states, Philadelphians can celebrate the grand opening of new retailers, which include digitally native brands, nationally recognized labels and local entrepreneurs while there. 

Expect live music, pop-up shops and trunk shows from 1 to 3 p.m., and also a pop-up experience along the festival route curated by CCD and Philly Fashion Week—which includes a Shop Center City shopping bag giveaway. The activation will take place on Walnut Street, from Avenue of the Arts to Rittenhouse Square from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday.

‘An Untitled Love ‘

As part of the continuous Philadelphia Fringe Festival, A.I.M by Kyle Abraham is hitting the spotlight with his newest work, ‘An Untitiled Love.’ The show—which is set to the music of the neo-soul, Grammy Award-winning R&B artist D’Angelo—is said to act as Abraham’s creative exaltation of Black love and unity. Taking place from Sept. 23 – 24, the new show will take place at the Philadelphia Film Center, and as the website states, this creative showcase pays homage to the complexities of self love and Black love, while serving as a thumping mixtape celebrating “our culture, family, and community.”

A.I.M by Kyle Abraham is one of the most active touring dance companies in the United States, with an audience base that is said to be as multi-facetted as its movement vocabulary, drawing inspiration from a broad range of cultural themes and dance styles. Since the company’s founding in 2006, Abraham has created more than 15 original works for and with the company—including this interdimensional exploration of love.
