It’s February this week, and that means Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. But South Philly’s Rex at the Royal has decided to celebrate a little early and in a unique way with its Ruler of Hearts Valentine’s Day experience.

Taking place this Sunday, Feb. 5, from 8 to 11 p.m., this event is for everyone—whether you’re a couple, with friends, or single and ready to experience something new. The cocktail party and game night will be hosted by Candace Johnson, creator of Touchy/Feely, the new adult intimacy card game designed for friends, lovers, and partners.

Admission comes out to be $95 per person (which also covers tax and gratuity and is available to book on Resy) and will include a meet-and-greet and an in-depth game demo with Johnson, two signature cocktails, light bites, and 20% off dinner downstairs in the dining room before the event. Ruler of Hearts will take place in the candle-lit mezzanine lounge area during its designated hours.

Rex at The Royal Bar Manager Joshua Scheid will be whipping up drinks as Johnson guides guests through the multi-faceted sensory experience with her recently-launched card game (which is now available for purchase online via her website). On top of the drinks, Scheid will also be offering cocktail meringues for guests to try.

“We’re all so excited to have Candace leading our Ruler of Hearts event,” explained Scheid in a statement. “It’s a fun opportunity for folks to come out and spend an evening together that isn’t actually on Valentine’s Day, but has the same super-intimate feel.”

During the event, Rex at The Royal’s full beverage menu will also be available a la cart on top of the two drinks included with admission.

The Touchy/Feely event centers on the card game of the same name, which is an adult intimacy experience described in the release as a way to entice captivating communication coupled with tantalizing touch. The game features 80 conversational cards employing 16 erogenous zones that offer “infinite opportunities to be pleasurefully raw and real.”

Rex at the Royal notes that adults of all identities and attachment types are welcome as singles, friends, couples and groups and all gameplay will be guided by Candace to attendees’ comfort level. Children are not allowed at this event.

While at Ruler of Hearts, Philadelphians can also indulge in light bites such as local cheeses and fruits, as well as chocolate truffles crafted by Chef de Cuisine Brendan Fox.

Beforehand, guests will also get a 20% discount on dinner and drinks at Rex at the Royal. For dinner, guests can sink their teeth into the establishment’s raw bar (featuring oysters, kelp-cured fluke, shrimp cocktail and more) crab fondue, madeira braised pork shank, crawfish pot pie, the Rex Burger, chicken and dumplings, spicy pimento mac and cheese, skillet cornbread, banana pudding cheesecake, crab rice and more.
