Yes, you can have ice cream for breakfast this weekend in Philly

If you have a sweet tooth early in the morning or you just like to start your day off with a little treat, you’re in luck, because National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day in Philadelphia is scooping out some sweet deals this weekend.

The dessert-clad day is officially Feb. 3, and to celebrate some local shops have put breakfast spins on their classic flavors on top of offering some pretty sweet deals.

Milk Jawn, for example, is back at it for the holiday after a highly successful inaugural year in 2023 (before 9 a.m. there was a line down the block in 16-degree weather.) This local ice cream stop will be offering early flights of the dessert beginning at 9 a.m. at 1439 East Passyunk Ave. in South Philly.

Milk Jawn

As a release notes, the flights, which cost $12 apiece, include four super-limited batch flavors: Cereal Milk with Fruity Pebble Crunch (Fruity Pebble-flavored ice cream layered with fruity cereal crunch); Toast with Jam (toast-flavored ice cream with strawberry jam); Banana Nut Muffin (cinnamon-spiced banana ice cream topped with toasted walnut streusel); and Breakfast in Bed (maple ice cream layered with espresso fudge and croissant chips from Lost Bread Co.). Each scoop will include a large waffle cone chip, and the flights will be available until they sell out.

Vegans are in luck as well, Milke Jawn will be offering a vegan version of the Cereal Milk and Banana Nut Muffin flavors on this date as well.

Then, Jeni’s Ice Cream will also be celebrating at scoop shops all over the country—and there are two locations in Philly, in Center City and Fishtown.)

This Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon, Philadelphians will be able to try a variety of different flavors including Banana French Toast (silky banana custard shot through with pure maple syrup and cinnamon-sugar French toast gravel made from scratch in their kitchen), Banoffee L’affogato (ice cream topped with a nutty and robust Italian roast cold brew, made for the brand by Slingshot Coffee Co.)

And as a release notes, Jeni’s is also encouraging folks to try the Banoffee: two scoops of Banana French Toast ice cream topped with cold brew.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams

Throughout the day, Philadelphians can also try the French toast waffle cones, and an assortment of breakfast-themed menu items including the “Balanced Breakfast” made with banana French toast, coffee with cream and sugar, and dark chocolate in a French toast waffle bowl and the “Caramel Banana French Toast” made with caramel pecan sticky buns and banana French toast on a French toast waffle cone.

Customers can RSVP for Ice Cream for Breakfast Day and find out more information online at jenis.com for Jeni’s and milkjawn.com for Milk Jawn.
