Nope, that wasn’t a typo or misprint you just read.
Jamie Moyer is staying true to his word and embarking on a very ambitious comeback trail after undergoing Tommy John surgery last December. The 48-year-old is 267-204 with a 4.24 ERA in 24 big-league seasons.
Moyer told Metro back in May that he planned to pitch again in the majors. Now, the Phillies are allowing him to use their facilities in Clearwater as he attempts an epic comeback.
“We’re providing him our space and our expertise,” Phillies GM Ruben Amaro, Jr. told the team’s official website.
Moyer remains a free agent and — considering the dominant state of the Phillies’ starting rotation — it would be a shock to see him return to Philadelphia. Then again, stranger things have happened. In other words, stay tuned.
